1. About Us

Grassroots Funding provides funding research, assessment and application-support services for grassroots sports clubs and community sports organisations.

Grassroots Funding is operated by Eliot Acton, a sole trader. Grassroots Funding is a trading name of Eliot Acton, a sole trader.

Business address: Queensgate House, 48 Queen Street, Exeter, EX4 3SR, United Kingdom. Email: [email protected].

These Terms apply when you purchase or use services provided by Grassroots Funding.

2. Our Services

Grassroots Funding provides research, assessment and support services relating to grants and other funding opportunities for grassroots sports clubs and community sports organisations.

Our services may include:

  • Funding Assessments;
  • research into potential funding opportunities;
  • assessment of published eligibility criteria;
  • funding strategy recommendations;
  • application readiness support, including drafting support only where the relevant funder's rules permit it; and
  • related funding support agreed with you.

The precise scope of a service will be shown when you order it or set out in a separate proposal.

3. Funding Assessments

A Funding Assessment relates to the club, organisation and project information supplied to us.

We research and assess potential funding opportunities using information available to us at the time the assessment is prepared.

Funding programmes, eligibility criteria, deadlines, available budgets and application processes can change.

A Funding Assessment is therefore an assessment and recommendation, not confirmation that your organisation is eligible for or will receive funding.

4. No Guarantee of Funding

We do not control funding decisions.

All eligibility and award decisions are ultimately made by the relevant funder.

We do not guarantee:

  • that your organisation will be eligible for any particular fund;
  • that a fund will remain open or available;
  • that an application will be accepted;
  • that an application will be successful; or
  • that any particular amount of funding will be awarded.

We will aim to identify opportunities that appear relevant based on the information available to us and the published criteria at the time of our research.

5. Information You Provide

You are responsible for ensuring that information supplied to us is accurate, complete and not misleading.

This includes information about your:

  • organisation;
  • legal status;
  • membership;
  • finances;
  • facilities;
  • lease or ownership arrangements;
  • project;
  • beneficiaries;
  • costs;
  • quotations; and
  • existing or proposed funding.

We may rely on the information you provide when carrying out our services.

You must not ask us to include information in an application that you know to be false, misleading or unsupported.

6. Application Readiness Support

Application Readiness Support is a separate service unless expressly included in your order.

The scope of support available depends on the rules and requirements of the relevant funding programme.

Some funders restrict or prohibit the use of third parties, consultants or external grant-writing support.

Grassroots Funding will not knowingly provide assistance that breaches a funder's published rules.

Depending on the relevant funder's requirements, support may include:

  • explaining application requirements;
  • identifying evidence and information required;
  • application planning;
  • evidence organisation;
  • drafting assistance where permitted;
  • reviewing responses where permitted; and
  • pre-submission checks where permitted.

Your organisation remains responsible for ensuring that it complies with the relevant funder's rules.

You remain responsible for checking and approving all information relating to your organisation and project.

Unless expressly agreed otherwise and permitted by the relevant funding programme, your organisation is responsible for completing and submitting its own application.

Grassroots Funding does not guarantee that any application will be accepted or successful.

7. Artificial Intelligence

We may use technology, including artificial intelligence, to assist with research, analysis, drafting and administration.

AI-generated work is not intended to replace human review.

Where our service includes a human-checked Funding Assessment or application review, relevant outputs will be reviewed before being provided as final recommendations or application material.

We will not knowingly invent club information, statistics or evidence for use in a funding application.

You remain responsible for confirming the accuracy of information relating to your organisation and project.

8. Fees and Payment

Prices will be displayed before purchase or agreed with you in writing.

Unless stated otherwise, payment is required before work begins.

Application Readiness Support or other bespoke work may be quoted separately.

Any applicable taxes will be dealt with according to the business's actual tax status. We are not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged.

9. Cancellations and Refunds

If you are purchasing on behalf of a club, charity, company, association or other organisation for purposes connected with that organisation, the purchase will normally be treated as a business-to-business transaction.

Because our work may begin shortly after an order is placed and involves project-specific research and analysis, refunds are not normally available once substantive work has begun.

If you wish to cancel before work has started, contact us using the contact details published on the website.

Nothing in these Terms affects any statutory rights that apply to you.

10. Delivery

We will aim to deliver services within any timeframe stated when you order.

Any delivery date or timeframe is an estimate unless we expressly agree otherwise.

Delays caused by missing information, documents or responses from you may affect delivery.

11. Intellectual Property

We retain ownership of our underlying methodologies, templates, software, systems and general know-how.

Once you have paid for a completed Funding Assessment or Application Readiness Support deliverable, you may use that deliverable for the internal purposes of your organisation and for relevant funding applications.

You may share it with your committee, professional advisers and relevant funders.

You may not resell, commercially reproduce or represent our underlying service, templates or methodology as your own.

12. Third-Party Information

Our services may refer to information published by funding bodies and other third parties.

We are not responsible for third-party websites, systems or decisions.

Where possible, important eligibility decisions should be confirmed against the funder's current official guidance before an application is submitted.

13. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Subject to that, we are not responsible for:

  • decisions made by funding organisations;
  • changes to funding programmes or criteria;
  • unsuccessful applications;
  • losses resulting from inaccurate or incomplete information supplied to us; or
  • indirect or consequential losses arising from use of our services.

Our total liability arising from a particular paid service will not exceed the amount you paid us for that service, to the extent permitted by law.

14. Data Protection

We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Documents and information supplied to us may contain personal or organisational information.

You are responsible for ensuring you are entitled to provide that information to us.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

The version applicable to your purchase will be the version in force when your order is placed, unless a change is required by law.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms, subject to any mandatory legal rights that apply.
